Season 1, episode 1 of the Foundations series, part of our Copernicus Program (intended for middle and early high school students).

In this first episode, Dr. Foland discusses the beauty of mathematics and how modern computers can enable us to apply mathematical skills to real-world problems. In this season, we will be exploring the Python programming language. However, before we begin, it is important to first build a firm foundation in good programming practice. It all starts with a systematic process known as “computational thinking”.

Quote of the Episode:

“We will always have STEM with us. Some things will drop out of the public eye and will go away, but there will always be science, engineering, and technology. And there will always, always be mathematics.”

– Katherine Johnson
