What's Happening This Week - Scholarship Radar

A weekly summary of TSoG Activities.  

Roger and Barbara Powell Scholarship for Engineering

Do you live in a small town in Texas?  Does your county have less than 60k residents?  Do you plan to pursue a 4 year degree in engineering or computer science at a Texas public institution? Is your GPA 3.0 or higher? 

For students who live in the sticks, the application window is now open. The application deadline is March 31, 2022 at 11:59 pm CDT. 

In 2021, SWE disbursed more than 290 new and renewed society and section-selected scholarships valued at more than $1,220,000. SWE Scholarships support those who identify as a woman and are pursuing an associate, bachelor or graduate degree in engineering, engineering technology and computer science both in the United States and internationally. The scholarship window is open until May 1, 2022.

Side Note – Do you live near the Houston area? The Houston SWE chapter has their own scholarship opportunity as well.  

ACS Scholars Program

Over one hundred scholarships of up to $5,000 per year for underrepresented minority students planning to pursue undergraduate     college degrees in the chemical sciences, including 2-year chemical technology programs.  Applicants must meet the following  requirements:

  • Be in a minority group 
  • Be citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
  • High school senior, college freshman, sophomore or junior intending to major in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, environmental science, toxicology or other discipline centered on chemical science
  • Attend an accredited college or university on a full-time basis;
