The '3 Whys' sales methodology can be applied for several other things in life. This year, I am applying it to giving back to the community. The season of giving and reflecting is a great time to be thankful to every one that enriched our lives and to be grateful to all the positive things going for us. It's also a good time to think about the less fortunate in our communities and consider effective ways that we can make a positive impact, however small. I picked The Shoulders of Giants (TSoG) as one of the non-profit organizations I would be involved with.
Why give back? Giving back is not just about making a donation, it is about making a positive difference! Giving back to the community is possible no matter how much time and money we have. What may seem meager for us, can have a huge positive impact on other people's lives. There is no substitute for the happiness and satisfaction that we derive out of giving, which lasts much longer than the transient happiness we get from acquiring materialistic goodies. Pick an organization of your choice and consider donating time and money that you can spare.
Why TSoG? TSoG is a non-profit organization that is committed to providing and democratizing quality science and engineering education. It is backed by passionate individuals who are dedicated to the cause. The shortage of STEM skilled resources in today's workforce is a significant problem which needs to be addressed by making radical changes in our educational methods. I believe it is very important to get students introduced to science and engineering education early on, and to keep their interest through high school and college. Understanding the tremendous impact of science and engineering on the society can also help them pick it as their career choice. TSoG delivers science and engineering educational content online in unique and creative ways. The content is offered for free and offers scholarships to equip needy students with the materials they need to successfully complete the courses.
Why now? TSoG decided to make all their content available for free to students across the world and do away with the paid membership model. Active contributors are obviously a critical part of enabling TSoG to continue it's mission to democratize quality science and engineering educational content. Even a $2/month contribution enables TSoG to support low income needy students to enroll and successfully complete courses. Please consider donating to a noble and unique cause to promote STEM education through TSoG. Donating just takes a few clicks from the TSoG Patreon page.
Wish you a wonderful holiday season and thank you for considering TSoG as a means to giving back to the community.
